Nicola McQuaid, Associate Director, believes they provide the capacity for expansion with the added benefit of an Apprentice who is working, learning and gaining a qualification at the same time. “The reward of watching an apprentice grow from the first day to becoming a valued member of the team is amazing. We chose Apprenticeships as we were looking to give someone the opportunity to progress into the role, learn all aspects of the role with us, and bring fresh ideas and a young mind.”

Nicola reinforced the four main aspects that Apprenticeships offer for employers – quality, growth, pride and value. “I’ve recommended Apprenticeships to our other sites and tenants looking to grow in these uncertain economic times. Not only do they offer good careers that give people confidence, support and encouragement, but employers get real value.” DBH were also in attendance with Mercia as Adam Hill won at the National Apprenticeship Awards. “The National Apprenticeship awards filled us with real pride and was an eye-opening event as to the beneifts Apprentices give you.”

We would like to put on record our gratitude to DBH for their continued support of Apprenticeships. Watch this space for more case studies, interviews and news from Mercia’s Apprentices.

NAW 2013 Case Study – DBH Boundary Lane

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2013, Mercia Partnership are visiting our Apprentices and employers to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals and businesses.

Our first case study involves Hannah Pugh, who is studying Business Administration Level 2 with Mercia during her Apprenticeship at DBH Serviced Business Centres.

“I feel I can progress forward with my qualification from Mercia and have a future at DBH” said Hannah, who is finding the programme thoroughly enjoyable and more beneficial than college. Having been at DBH since August, she is looking to gain experience in the Receptionist field and hopefully gain full time employment with DBH. “I’ve developed my communication and IT skills, and my Business Administration qualification is progressing well.” A colleague noted how well she has fit in to the company whilst her manager, Kerri Simpson, offered very kind words of encouragement, “Mercia have been a fantastic support to DBH and Hannah is a valued member of the team.”

We’d like to extend our kind thanks to both Kerri and Hannah and wish them continued luck with the programme.

National Apprenticeship Week 2013

What is National Apprenticeship Week?

National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals and businesses.

Now in its sixth year, National Apprenticeship Week is the time when all eyes are on Apprenticeships and it’s all about raising the profile amongst employers, individuals, teachers, parents and the media.

Everyone with an interest in Apprenticeships across England is encouraged to get involved in the week.

The overarching theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2013 is: Apprenticeships Deliver.

The year’s theme is a key part of the New Era for Apprenticeships. It is about demonstrating how apprenticeships can deliver for both employers and individuals whilst showcasing the quality of apprentices and the huge contribution they make to their employer’s success.

We want to show how apprentices develop as individuals and how proud the country’s employers are of their apprentices.

To take part in Apprenticeship week, Mercia Partnership will be visiting all our current Apprentices to take photographs, hold interviews and write case studies. Keep an eye on our twitter feed for #NAW2013

The theme from the National Apprenticeship Service for the week is as follows:

Monday 11th March – Proud

Tuesday 12th March – Growth

Wednesday 13th March – Choice

Thursday 14th March – Hall of Fame

Friday 15th March – Apprenticeships Deliver
