Supporting Teaching and Learning Registration of Interest

For those of our learners that have attended the Open Day at Great Sankey High School, or have successfully completed the Supporting Teaching and Learning Award at St Joseph the Worker, Fiddlers Lane Community Primary School, Linaker Children’s Centre or Waterloo Children’s Centre we are pleased to post the STL Guide and Registration of Interest form should you wish to progress.

The STL Guide contains information on courses, eligibility and the options open to you with regards to funding. Please enter as many details as possible on the Registration of Interest form in order for us to process you registration.

Who are they for
The qualifications are suitable for those already working as learning support staff in schools.

Level 2
Level 2 will suit you if you are already working in a school and want a qualification that proves your skills and helps you develop your career.

Level 3
Level 3 is ideal if you have significant experience as a school support worker and wish to move into a more specialised role – in administration, learning support and management.

Getting to Great Sankey High School

Directions from Liverpool:
Follow the M62 eastbound until junction 7. Take the turn off towards Cronton (Warrington Road) and follow through the traffic lights for 3.4 miles turning left onto Lingley Green Avenue. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Park Road. After 0.3 miles turn left onto Barrow Hall Lane. Great Sankey is 0.3 miles on the left.

Directions from Manchester:
Follow M62 westbound to Junction 8. Exit to Warrington West/A574. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Burtonwood Road then the 3rd exit onto Whittle Avenue. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Lingley Green Avenue and then the 1st exit left onto Barrowhall Lane. The school is 200 yards on the right.

Train Service:
Use the Liverpool-Manchester line stopping at Great Sankey.

Bus Services:
Buses leaving from Warrington Central Bus Terminal to Great Sankey (Barrowhall Lane) are the 29, 14, 15, 17, 17A and 29

Mercia Partnership in Educate Magazine

Mercia Partnership was recently featured in an article published in Educate Magazine entitled ‘The Changing Face of Education’. The article was centred around one of our current learners, Tom McGarrigle, who has just finished Sixth form at Holy Family High School and is enrolling on to our STL Programme.

Educate magazine is a free comprehensive guide to schools and colleges in Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley. The magazine has grown and grown over the years and the main aim is to provide a platform for parents to find out more about what is going on with education and allow schools to celebrate and showcase the things they have on. It is produced three times a year and is available from your local retailer, school, college, nursery or library. Please contact Educate if you would like a copy of the magazine or to subscribe.

STL at Great Sankey High School

The initial information, advice and guidance session for Supporting Teaching and Learning at Great Sankey High will take place on:

Wednesday 12th September 2012 from 4 – 7PM

The first session will be induction on to the programme. It is essential to bring with you:

Some form of ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, ID card, bank/debit card, National insurance card, or certificate of entitlement.

Proof of benefits (if applicable) or the course fee of £99.

Any previous qualifications such as recent Literacy or Numeracy qualifications, or an STL level 2 if wanting to do L3.
